How the Stagecrafters Chooses Plays PDF Print E-mail
The Stagecrafters has a Play Selection Committee headed by Mark Grayson. Our committee has 15-20 members who propose plays that they think our audience will enjoy. We also encourage our subscribers and other audience members to submit suggestions for plays; we also accept works by local playwrights.
We usually begin with 70-80 titles on our list, order copies of the plays and pass them around. From July through December we meet as a committee on a regular basis to discuss the scripts we’ve read and suggest others we find enticing. We slowly whittle down the list to approximately 25 titles. With this short list we rate each play taking into account staging, sets, costumes, story and audience appeal. After the ratings have been tabulated, we look at our final list and build a season with our directors and budgets in mind.
We are currently in the final stages of choosing plays for 2008-2009, which is our 80th Season! We encourage you, our audience, to send your suggestions for the 81st season to Mark Grayson c/o The Stagecrafters. Many thanks to all of you who keep our boards busy!
HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY!
Next year Stagecrafters celebrates our 80th season! What would you give for a great 80th Birthday present? Money? Clothes? Computer? Time? Please give this some thought as we want to do something special for this spectacular occasion.
